Here’s video from an iPhone using a SLR lens.
It comes from the guys who I bought my depth of field adapter from at Vid-Atlantic Media Productions. When I told them I wanted a 37mm threaded DOF adapter to put on an OWLE Bubo, it wasn’t their usual request. With their expertise in all things DOF and the right diopter / macro close up filters. Here’s what they put together:
Watch on iPhone – “iPhone 4 with OWLE and EnCinema 35mm Adapter (SLR Lens)”
Camera: iPhone 4 with OWLE Bubo and EnCinema 35mm Adapter
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens
Additionally, they’re working with OWLE Bubo to create a prototype that I’m sure will hit the open market soon! Great job guys!
Looks sick, is this going to sell as a kit? Nice song too.
Jeremy,
You have a magnificent project here. Don’t worry about the camera snobs. If they don’t give you constructive feedback, they just don’t appreciate it.
I am not an experienced photographer, but I have good friends that are. I use my iPhone 4 for all of my video needs. – I shoot longboarding, snowboarding, and mountain biking videos with my phone, and I love it!
I would be happy to help you in any way that I can with the iPhone DSLR project. Whether it be testing the hardware or doing test research. Let me know if you need a hand in any specific areas!
This is great but the OWLE Bubo + the EnCine 35 already costs $330.
If only theres an OWLE Bubo that let’s you connect an SLR lens directly..
Anyone try it with a Nikon 18-200mm VR lens?
For a site dealing with iPhone, I find it funny that the video above is not viewable from an iPhone browser
Because I want a DSLR that has terrible vignetting and ultra small DOF
while all still paying a similar price to a real DSLR

@Mac Hoe – Yeah the equiptment was pretty pricey alone. But I already had much of the stuff I’m working with.
@Brennan
Thanks a lot for the encouragement! Currently, I’m running tests with the EnCinema DOF Adapter and various Macro lenses and closeup filters. Once I’ve got a prototype that can shoot decent images, it would be great to see what kind of shots you could put together. I’ll be posting updates on my blog so stay tuned!
@CyberZeroCool
You’ll have to wait and find out
when will we see photo?
Nice article. Thank you for this info
Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.
